Description: Street centerlines are used for county dispatch vehicle routing and therefore typically extend from intersection to intersection, or from intersection to road end. Street segments are the most granular level of our Road Hierarchy as defined within the Road Inventory database. The higher levels of the Road Hierarchy -- Pavement Segments and Roads -- are made up of one or more street segments. The data in this layer include line geometry and attributes from the official Street Centerlines layer maintained by OIT-GIS joined to road maintenance authority and geographic district values maintained by the DPW BOH GIS team. Road Maintenance Authority Category is symbolized by color and Functional Class (FCC) is symbolized by line width, i.e., freeways and arterials are displayed as thick lines, collectors are displayed as medium thickness, and locals are displayed as thin lines. Roads with a 'Planned' status are symbolized as dashed lines. This layer is sourced from the VWDPWGE.Highways.fc_Streets_CL feature class, which is refreshed nightly from data in the VWDPWGE.Highways v_Streets_CL_FC view that in turn queries the DPWROADINV.RoadInventory.v_Streets_CL view. This layer should render more quickly than others sourced directly from the DPWROADINV.RoadInventory.v_Streets_CL view, but will not immediately reflect data updates made in the Road Inventory database.

Description: Pavement segments serve as the basic units for planning pavement maintenance treatment and reconstruction activity by the Bureau of Highway's Infrastructure Management Division. Each segment is a length of road maintained by the BOH that has similar pavement condition and other characteristics that makes it suitable for the entire stretch to be paved and/or treated at one time. This Pavement Centerlines layer is the middle level of the Road Hierarchy maintained within the Road Inventory database. The line geometry of this layer is derived from -- and is a subset of -- the Street Centerlines layer dissolved on SegID, and is refreshed from its source nightly. Each pavement segment is composed of one or more street segments. The pavement segment attributes, condition ratings, and treatment histories are sourced directly from the Road Inventory Database. Road Maintenance Authority Category is symbolized by color and Functional Class (max length) is symbolized by width, i.e., freeways and arterials are displayed as thick lines, collectors are displayed as medium thickness, and locals are displayed as thin lines. This layer includes only active records with geometry, i.e., it does NOT contain any archived records. This layer is sourced from the VWDPWGE.Highways.fc_Pavement_CL feature class, which is refreshed nightly from data in the VWDPWGE.Highways v_Pavement_CL_FC view that in turn queries the DPWROADINV.RoadInventory.v_Pavement_CL view. This layer should render more quickly than others sourced directly from the DPWROADINV.RoadInventory.v_Pavement_CL view, but will not immediately reflect data updates made in the Road Inventory database.

Each segment is a length of road maintained by the BOH that has similar pavement condition and other characteristics that makes it suitable for the entire stretch to be paved and/or treated at one time. This Pavement Polygons layer is the middle level of the Road Hierarchy maintained within the Road Inventory database. Each pavement segment is composed of one or more street segments. The polygon geometry in this layer is derived from both the Pavement Centerlines and Road Edges feature classes. A model is run monthly that assigns each Road Edge polygon a SegID from the overlaid Pavement Centerlines feature class, which is then used to dissolve Road Edge polygons into Pavement Polygons. The output of that model is then appended to the Pavement Segment Polygons feature class in the Road Inventory database. The pavement segment attributes, condition ratings, and treatment histories are sourced directly from the Road Inventory Database. Road Maintenance Authority Category is symbolized by color.
