Description: Feature Class for Anne Arundel County Environmentally Sensitive Areas as designated by Erik Michelsen of BWPR (in conjunction with Paul Spadoro of the Magothy River Association) in an effort by DPW to cut back on the amount of road salt used in winter near Waterford Dam along Mill Rd and Catherine Ave. This area has a yearly Yellow Perch spawn and cutting back on the use of road salts will help protect the spawning habitat.

Description: This feature class represents the location of each Road District Yard in Anne Arundel County and identifies the Road Operations Supervisors (ROS) that lead these yards for the Bureau of Highways' Road Operations division. Created by DPW BOH IMD GIS (Wayne McCready and Jeff Cox) in December 2019. Dover boundary edited in August 2020. The names were renamed to accommodate the 2023 District Realignment by Rachel Antonio in March 2023 as follows: Odenton renamed to "Millersville."

Description: Feature Class for Anne Arundel County snow map Cold Spots. For cold spots streets over all streams: Select by location all Streams that intersect Streets > creates new line file Streets_xing_Streams.shp. Select by location all Streets that intersect Streams > creates new line file Streams_xing_Streets.shp. Intersect > Streets_xing_Streams.shp and Streams_xing_Streets.shp > creates new point file Streets_xing_Streams_POINTS. Join Streets_xing_Streams.shp and Streets_xing_Streams_POINTS > creates new line file Streets_xing_Streams_join.shp. County maintained roads were extracted out.

Description: Took the Bridges_Inventory_2022 feature class (taken from Bridges_County feature class created by Wayne McCready and assigned maintenance authority to them based on info from the state and DPW BOE) and used Feature to Line geoprocessing tool to turn polygon features into line features. A definition query is also set to just the County maintained bridges and "RA Comments" to NOT equal where bridges were not on roads or on paths. This excluded all bridges not maintained by the county and bridges that may be off a driven road and are located near a stream or some other feature.

Description: Definition query of v_Street_Centerlines_Snow_RI set to County and Under Warranty maintained roads. Symbolized as unique values of the Snow Priority field. Snow Priority field updated by Rachel Antonio (BOH GIS) routinely per FCC designation of street centerlines (OIT-GIS). Road segments are depicted by Priority 1 (red), 2 (green), or 3 (blue). In general, but not always, Minor and Principal Arterial FCC segments are designated as Priority 1, Collector FCC segments are designated as Priority 2, and Local FCC segments are designated as Priority 3. Overrides of original FCC values were reviewed by Alex Baquie and Jim Small in the fall of 2022. Historical overrides from previous years' updates were maintained.

Description: Feature class for Anne Arundel County Snow Removal Zones (Snow Route Districts). In July 2019, Jeff Cox and Wayne McCready met with Alex Baquie to discuss a detailed workplan to resolve errors generated by Route Completion Reports during snow events in recent years. BOH GIS Intern Adam Mills was then tasked with following this workplan. The geodatabase file as well as the ArcMap MXD file were created by Jeff Cox and Wayne McCready ahead of time in order to get the project done faster. Included in geodatabase was a point layer containing the errors, a layer containing the path of snowplows, and the Snow Route District boundaries layer. In order to remove error points that were classified as falling in "Other Jurisdictions" polygons, the polygons were cut so that the road no longer lies within the polygons outside of Anne Arundel County Jurisdiction. The next step was to merge the cut polygons with the adjacent district polygons. For the points that fell on district lines, they were turned into pdfs and sent out to district managers so that they could provide feedback on how they wanted the polygons edited. Once the feedback was received the polygons at each trouble area was cut so that the road no longer fell on the district boundary, and was then merged with one of the adjacent district polygons. Then a feature dataset was created within the geodatabase, in order to create a topology of the snow removal polygons layer, in order to ensure no overlaps or gaps were present in the layer. The boundaries were updated and renamed to accommodate the 2023 District Realignment by Rachel Antonio in March 2023 as follows: Northern to "Eastern," Central to "Western", St. Margarets yard switched from Central to Eastern, Snow Zone N12 realigned to Western Millersville. Additional boundary changes were made in August 2024 to Snow Removal Zones EM 7 to move from Mountain Rd to St. Maragrets yards.

Others were made to improve the AVL Route Completion Reports.
