This file is a countywide digital stream reach file (polyline). It was created for the Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Watershed Management Program to delineate the reaches within the county and to serve as a base layer for conducting physical, biological, and chemical assessment. This dataset was based on the 2002 stream planimetric coverage. The 2002 planimetric coverage was updated, in 2004 to accomodate field walked reaches within the Severn River, 2006 to refelct field walked reaches within the South River, 2007 to reflect field walked reaches within the Upper Patuxent River. The Magothy reaches are expected to be field verified in 2008. Other watersheds to follow with a Countywide field verified coverage expected by 2012. The available stream layer and classification data was collected in support of the Anne Arundel County National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) permit, which is issued by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). As part of the permitting requirement, Anne Arundel County is required to perform an assessment of land-use conditions. The assessment of current conditions is intended to help the County to determine where to focus resources to not only maintain those waterbodies that are in good condition, but to help determine where mitigation of potential problems is necessary to improve the overall watershed health and quality of tidal and non-tidal resources.

Magothy Watershed Assessment - Completed May 2010.

Patapsco Non-Tidal Watershed Assessment - Completed August 2011.

Patapsco Tidal and Bodkin Creek Watershed Assessment - Completed August 2012.

Little Patuxent Watershed Assessment - Completed June 2016

West and Rhode Rivers Watershed Assessment - Completed December 2016.

The last watershed study, Herring Bay, Middle and Lower Patuxent was completed 6/30/2018.

|
