Points of interest were only captured for Anne Arundel County, MD (except for several MARC Stations as noted in the COMMENTS field). The source material coordinates were Maryland State Plane 1983 (NAD1983) with units in feet. The data is considered map accurate to a scale of 1:2,400 (1' = 200") Anne Arundel County received the original file from Jack Martin of the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) on April 29, 2004. Most of the points were captured by SHA in late 2002 and early 2003 and served as the "points of interest" as seen on the SHA maps. The method of capture is unknown. Using ArcGIS 9.0, Anne Arundel County began updating the points using 2002 Orthophotography (flown between February 21st - 27th, 2002) as the source. Each point was placed in the center of the building structure, parking lot, or closest possible area. The data is considered map accurate to a scale of 1:2,400 (1" = 200'). Other sources used include 2004 IKONOS satellite imagery (captured in May of 2004) that is map accurate to a scale of 1 meter, as well as Fire Box maps (raster images) which include field verified corner addressing conducted over a five-year period by the County's Fire Department (completed in 2000). The source material coordinates are Maryland State Plane (North American Datum, 1983) with units in feet. More recent updates were completed using 2007 orthophotography (6 inch resolution), the Verizon Emergency 911 Emergency Services Listing, and the Structure Address project.
